What you Might NOT Know about Travel Planners!

There are a lot of misconceptions about travel professionals out there. Here are three things that are the most common assumptions people make about travel professionals.

1. We aren't "Travel Agents!"

As the travel industry has evolved, so has its professionals. The days of the travel agent that makes your reservations for you and disappears after taking your money are gone. A good travel planner will work with you to ask you what your needs and desires are and creates a tailor made trip just for you! Professional travel advisors require collaboration, provide one-on-one attention, and possess travel industry knowledge you won't find anywhere else. Some will charge an upfront fee for initial planning. I do not do that. The only money I make is the commission paid from the resort or cruise line. If you book with them yourself, you will still pay that fee. In fact, a good travel planner will look for ways to save you money.

2. We are Specialists. While travel professionals are fully-qualified to plan all your travel-related matters, it’s always smart to work with someone who truly specializes in what you’re looking for. For example, if you’re interested in planning a destination wedding, don’t seek help from a travel pro who specializes in Disney travel (unless of course, you want Mickey to attend your wedding)! Planning a destination wedding takes an extensive amount of research and planning – something only a true romance travel expert can help you with. There are millions of destinations out there to explore an no one travel planner know them all. Do your homework and you find the right travel planner for you.
